Kate Henshaw, Jim Iyke comment on being dropped as Glo Ambassadors

 

News filtered out a few weeks ago that Globacom has dropped Kate Henshaw-Nuttal and Jim Iyke as their brand ambassadors, but the two say they are not aware of the new development. Kate had no comment on the matter when approached by journalists, Jim Iyke said he only heard it in the news, that they've not been officially notified.

So basically what happened was that Glo released the names of their ambassadors to the press and in the list, Sunny Neji, Kate and Jim Iyke's names were missing and new names were added. Globacom Marketing Communications manager, Onyeakachi Nwosu then said that 'anybody whose name doesn't appear on the list is definitely not a Glo Ambassadors'

Saudi to deport 1,500 Nigerian illegal immigrants

Garba Aminchi, Nigeria's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, says 1,500 Nigerians illegally residing in that country will be deported soon.

Aminchi, who spoke to newsmen in Mecca on Sunday, said those affected were apprehended at various locations in Saudi Arabia.

He said some of them were caught engaging in criminal activities like stealing and robbery while others were apprehended for street begging or constituting a nuisance.

The envoy further disclosed that more than 20,000 Nigerian illegal immigrants were deported to Nigeria by the Saudi authorities in the last 12 months for similar offences.

Aminci said most of the criminal activities being perpetrated by Nigerians in Saudi Arabia included fraud, theft, robbery and prostitution.

Farouk AbdulMutallab Wants To Be Tried Under Sharia

Nigerian terror suspect, Farouk AbdulMutallab, has demanded trial in a Sharia court, his latest request in his trial for allegedly trying to destroy a Detroit-bound American airliner on December 25, 2009.


The Associated Press reported that the suspect made the demand in a court filing on Thursday. He is currently being tried by a district court in Michigan, United States.

He said he was being ”unjustly detained” by the American government.

Mercy Johnson's PR agency, Big Sam just confirmed to me that Prince Odianosen Okojie has formally divorced his estranged wife, Lovely Okojie.

According to BigSam, the divorce was finalized on Tuesday 23 August, 2011, at the Igueben Area Customary Court, in Benin, Edo State.

Mercy and Odi's court wedding which was scheduled for today didn't hold. They are skipping that part and concentrating on the traditional and white wedding which will hold tomorrow and next respectively. The venues? It's guarded, sorry...:-). 28-year-old lady, body found inside pond

The death of a young lady, Chinelo Ezenekwe, from Nanka, in Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State, whose body was found dead in a pond has continued to raise dust.

The corpse was allegedly found in a pond located at ‘Obu’ palace.
But the Igwe of Nanka, Gilbert Ofosa, who was shocked at the discovery in his obu, has ordered investigation into the sudden death of the factory worker.

Nollywood PA arrested for soliciting for sex from girls looking for movie roles

A production assistant popularly known as Locomotive was last week arrested and detained at Soloki Police Station, Aguda for allegedly assaulting up and coming actresses during a film audition at the very popular Winnis Hotel in Surulere. Locomotive allegedly ordered the desperate girls looking for movie roles to strip naked at the audition ground, which some of them did, after which Locomotive and his boys asked the girls to give them blow jobs if they wanted to get the roles.

One of the girls refused and reported the incident to the Chairman of Lagos State Chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rising, who alerted the police and got Locomotive and his team arrested. They've since been released.

Emeka said they dropped the case against Locomotive and his boys because the abused girls were not willing to pursue the matter, they refused to even write a formal statement to the police.

 Mikel's father Michael Obi told of his ordeal at a press conference The kidnapped father of Chelsea and Nigeria footballer John Mikel Obi has been freed by police.
Officers raided a neighbourhood in the Nigerian city Kano on Monday where they found Michael Obi and arrested five suspects.

Obi was kidnapped on 12 August as he travelled home from work in the city of Jos, around 200 miles away from Kano.

He told reporters: "I started begging them but they beat me mercilessly. They kept me in a terrible place."

The BBC's Yusuf Ibrahim Yakasai said Obi's face showed signs of the beatings that he says he endured during his ordeal.

"I was taken right deep into the bush, in an isolated area in Jos", Obi said.

20 Killed, 111 Trucks Burnt @ Dangote-Benue Cement Company

Nivea has since taken down the ad and issued an apology via Facebook, where they got most of the backlash. Their statement reads:

Report at our disposal reveals that embattled star actress, Mercy Johnson is currently mad and angry with leading Nollywood actor and comedian, Victor Osuagwu.

According to source, the reason for the former’s seething anger had to do with the harmless advice to the Kogi State born entertainer in the last week’s edition of EE magazine.

Mercy we were told immediately reported Osuagwu to their guild (AGN), after reading his brotherly advice to a beleaguered colleague.

The Sport Entertainment and Media Group – managers of Mikel Obi – have said that the family of the Super Eagles and Chelsea midfielder are negotiating with the kidnappers of Mr Michael Obi. The popular cliché of the Nigeria Police Force; ‘Police is your friend,’ does not seem to affect Taiwo Alabi, a 25 year-old commercial bus driver, whose newly acquired 24-seater bus was allegedly set ablaze by policemen in Lagos State.

Alabi said the bus with the number plate, LAGOS XX 255 EKV was burnt because he refused to give bribe to policemen attached to the Alapere Police Divisional Headquarters in the state. Now, Alabi is jobless with no hope of getting justice, while his creditors are on his neck to pay up because he bought the vehicle on hire purchase.
