Nigerian Pastor Convicted In US For Cheating Dying Cancer Patients With Fake Treatment
57years old Nigerian-born doctor and ordained pastor Rev. Christine Daniel, founder of Sonrise Medical Clinic has been convicted in the US for peddling snake oil treatment to about 55 dying cancer patients, mail and wire fraud, tax evasion and witness tampering hence, she faces up to 150years imprisonment and $5.5 million fine.
This is a lady who preached the love of God, promised cure for terminal cancer patients, for decades ran medical clinics for the poor, worked in hospital emergency rooms, and was devoted to regular missions overseas. Her trial included the tear-filled testimony of dozens of relatives of terminal patients who had died while taking her products like "C-Extract" created from herbs gathered around the world. But a test found ingredients like beef extract flavouring and sunscreen preservative, none of which could cure diseases, yet she charged $4,270 per week to $150,000 for a six-month treatment, and each patient was maid to pay weekly or be refused further treatments.
