Woman Found Dead with Private Parts and Breasts Missing

POLICE are investigating a case in which an unidentified Lower Gweru woman was found dead with private parts and breasts missing in a suspected ritual murder case.

Acting police spokesperson for Midlands province Assistant Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the woman's body was discovered last Friday in a bushy area in Madingane Village under Chief Sogwala, Lower Gweru.

"It is alleged that a male adult in the same village went into the bushy area to cut poles to fence his homestead. While in the bush, the man then came across the body which was in a state of decomposition," he said.

Asst Insp Mahoko said police attended the scene and discovered that the body had some parts missing. He said the woman's identity was also yet to be ascertained but is estimated to be aged between 20 and 23.

"Some parts, notably the private parts, the left hand and breasts were missing. Police are still investigating the matter to ascertain whether the body parts were removed by wild animals or were removed for ritual purposes," said Asst Insp Mahoko.

He said investigations into the matter were continuing and added that the body was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary for a postmortem.

"We are appealing to members of the public who might be missing a female relative to approach any nearest police station and assist with identification. Members of the public with information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects can also make use of police suggestion boxes," he said.
